THE Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has reportedly arrested the immediate past governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa.
The arrest confirmed by the spokesman of the anti-graft agency, Dele Oyewale, is in connection with an alleged One Trillion, Three Hundred Billion Naira (N1.300,000,000,000.⁰0) loot while serving as the governor of the oil-rich state.
Mr Okowa, vice-presidential candidate to former vice-president Atiku Abubakar on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general elections, was said to have used his office as governor to loot and acquire assets up to N1.3 trillion.
Some of the assets included massive shares in UTM Floating Liquefied Natural Gas Company, among other investments in the oil sector.
He is reportedly been detained at the Port-Harcourt division of the anti-graft office.
