THE Kogi State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal today upheld the election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the 11 November 2023 off-cycle election held in Kogi State, Usman Ododo, as duly elected.
The Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship standard-bearer in the election, Murtala Ajaka, had challenged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declaration of Mr Ododo as the winner of the election at the tribunal.
However, in the judgment delivered on Monday, the tribunal ruled against Ajaka.
The parties had adopted their final written addresses in the course of the proceedings.
In the petition, INEC, Ododo and the APC are listed as the 1st to 3rd respondents respectively.
The three-man panel which sat in Abuja last week fixed 27 May (today) to deliver judgment on the petition filed by the SDP and its candidate.
