AN Information Technology expert, Chimezie Chuta, has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of mischief with respect to the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) used during the presidential election held on 25th February 2023.
Chuta, a graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Tech Innovator and Chief Executive Officer at Web Print Express, said on his Facebook handle that “INEC Nigeria are scammers and their Chairman needs to be investigated and punished appropriately”.
He noted that the BVAS device can handle 50 elections without reconfiguration and wondered why INEC requested the court’s permission to reconfigure the devices.
According to him, the model of the BVAS devices used by INEC for the presidential elections in Nigeria is “Ekemp M8”, a biometric tablet with a processor (1.3GHz) and a 2 -16 Gigabyte storage space produced by Samsung.
“This simply means that this device can accommodate data for 50 different elections without needing a ‘reconfiguration’.
“Meanwhile, the price of the raw device is just $350.00 a piece.”
