CONFEDERATION of African Football (CAF) is set to fine the Eagles of Mali for attacking referee Adel Mohamed
Mali players were extremely furious with the Egyptian referee for not allowing them to take the last-minute corner against Ivory Coast during their quarter-final encounter which the former won 2-1
Malian players charged at the Egyptian referee and nearly exchanged blows but some players and officials intervened and separated them after the referee blew his whistle for the end of the game.
A statement released by CAF says that they will investigate the issue and punish Mali players for being unprofessional.
Mali has to blame themselves for being so sloppy and unwilling to finish off Ivory Coast after the host played almost 70 minutes with 10 men.
Ivory Coast dramatically won 2-1 against the Eagles of Mali to book a place in the last four of the 2023 AFCON on Saturday.
