The newly registered Congress of Nigerian Universities Academics (CONUA) has directed its members to resume work unfailingly today Wednesday 5th October 2022.
Rising from an emergency meeting held yesterday 4th October 2022 at the Univetsity of Benin (UNIBEN) Sports Complex car park between 3 and 4.30 pm, the association also resolved that any attack, physical or verbal by any member(s) of the striking ASUU (Academic Staff Union of Universities) should be promptly reported to the university management.
A copy of the resolution signed by Prof V.O Igbineweka, Chairman, CONUA UNIBEN chapter made available to Eighteen-Eleven Media also directed members to commence teaching and project supervision immediately.
“Members were briefed and assured that March, April and May salaries will be paid along with October salaries while June, July, August and September salaries will be paid with November salaries.
“Members were further informed that the IPPIS payment platform has been modified to accommodate all academic earned allowances.
“Members expressed appreciation to the federal government for the recognition and registration of our great, dynamic and responsible union.
The federal government Tuesday presented a certificate of registration to the CONUA and the National Association of Medical and Dental Academics (NAMDA).
Dr Chris Ngige, Minister of Labour and Employment, presented the certificates to both associations. CONUA is a breakaway faction of ASUU.
