The Nigeria Customs Service Zonal Coordinator in charge of Zone ‘A’ ACG Modupe Aremu on Wednesday 5 October 2022, embarked on a working visit to Ikorodu Government Warehouse for an on-the-spot assessment of the general conditions of the warehouse.
The visit, which is part of her oversight function to the facilities under her supervision, is coming on the heels of some insinuations in the media space which erroneously indicated that the facility is filled to the brim, and, therefore, can no longer be readily available for deposition of overtime/seized goods.
The ACG was received by the officer in charge of the warehouse, Assistant Comptroller of Customs William Akpabio, who led other officers and stakeholders on the working tour.
She took time to inspect all the goods domiciled in the facility and engaged with the critical stakeholders, including the security and regulatory agencies on ways to ensure the sanity and security of the facility.
The tour also provided an opportunity for a true assessment of the space in the facility contrary to the opinion advertised in the media, which suggests that the facility was congested.
It was gathered that the facility can comfortably accommodate about 9000 containers and other general goods.
Feeling quite elated at the conduct of the officers and men, the ACG charged them to ensure transparency and professionalism in the discharge of their duties, to enable the service to accomplish its mission and vision.
