The senator representing Oyo North Senatorial District and governorship aspirant under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Buhari Abdulfatai has declared that the insinuation that he will defect to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was an expensive joke from the rival party’s leaders and the governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde.
Senator Abdulfatai made this known in telephone conversations with journalists who sought his clarification on the alleged moves by PDP to woo him to the ruling party in Oyo State.
According to him, it was true that efforts were made by some leaders of the party who thought they could take advantage of his amiable human relations not minding their political differences to lure him to the PDP.
“That I will decamp to PDP now that my chances of being the flag bearer of APC in the 2023 contest are very high, is nothing but an unrealistic dream”, Senator Abdulfatai disclosed.
Senator Abdulfatai however admitted that the APC in Oyo State is having issues, he, however, expressed confidence that with efforts being put in place in recent times, the issues will be laid to rest and the party will become stronger ahead of 2023 polls.
He admonished APC stakeholders and members in Oyo State to remain calm and never succumb to unnecessary pressures from any quarters as such often results in regrets.
There have been reports of the PDP in Oyo State boosting of wooing the senator into its fold following the defection of Senator Abdulfatai’s colleague in the National Assembly, Engr. Joseph Tegbe who last week joined the umbrella party.
