THE Delta State Police Command has busted a two-man gang of car snatchers.
The suspects, Phillip Ekugbe and Onome Erikefe, both from the Ekpan community in Effurun, in the Uvwie Local Government Area of the state, were alleged to have been responsible for the series of car snatchings in Warri and its environs in Ugheli in the Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state.
According to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe, seven suspected stolen vehicles, comprising four Toyota Corolla cars, a Toyota Carina and an unregistered Nissan car, were recovered from the suspects.
The recovered Corolla cars were registered as follows: AJ 638 EFR; DU 60 LSR; WWR 799 AE; and KSF 758 DC), while the registration number of the recovered Carina car was WW 748 SL).
Also recovered from the suspects were 74 vehicle tyres, 16 vehicle engines, eight gearboxes, 15 motor batteries, and two motorcycle engines.
“Suspects are in custody, and the investigation is ongoing,” Edafe stated.
