THE second-tier Nigeria National League (NNL) has ruled out the possibility of adopting an abridged format this year, noting that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has agreed on League season.
Amar Ignis, the head of the media and communications department of NNL said on Monday that the news that there will be an abridged league this season is not correct.
In a statement issued by the NNL board, it categorically stated that the publication of an abridged league did not emanate from the office of its media and communications department or the NNL and that Amar Ignis did not authorize or endorse the report.
According to the NNL, the report is false and a deliberate attempt by mischief makers to discredit the efforts of the new board led by Mr George Aluo.
The NNL also describe the publication as a conspiracy to drag the name of the NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, into the mud and this is most unfortunate and unacceptable.
NNL also frowns at the attempt to discredit the genuine moves of the NFF in reshaping all the leagues in Nigeria, noting that it’s shameful that such individuals or groups of persons could descend so low to disparage the NNL and Nigeria football at large.
The board advised the general public to disregard what it described as “misleading and evil machination of enemies of Nigeria football.
“Those mischief makers are hereby warned to retrace their steps.”
