THE Ogun State Police Command says it is on the tray of a man who allegedly stabbed his 36-year-old wife to death during a quarrel.
According to the State Police Command spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, the incident occurred in Agbure Community in Ogun Waterside Local Government Area of the state.
The Police mouthpiece said the case was reported to Abigi Divisional Police Headquarters on 6 March 2025, at about 0930 hours, by Blessing Isaac, the younger sister of the deceased. Blessing recounted that at about 0100 hours, Josephine, who was married to the alleged murderer identified as Oju (full name yet to be confirmed), of Calabar origin, had a violent dispute with her husband.
The altercation escalated into physical violence, during which the suspect stabbed his wife multiple times in the neck and chest with a knife. Upon realising the severity of her injuries and seeing her bleeding profusely, the suspect fled the scene, abandoning her.
The victim was rushed to Ibiade General Hospital, where she unfortunately succumbed to her injuries, as confirmed by medical personnel.
The Police say upon receiving the report, detectives from the Abigi Division swiftly visited the crime scene and recovered potential exhibits.
Meanwhile, the victim’s body has been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy, and investigations are ongoing to ensure the perpetrator is brought to justice.
The case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Abeokuta, for further investigation, the Police Command stated.
“The Ogun State Police Command strongly condemns all forms of domestic violence and urges residents to seek peaceful conflict resolution mechanisms rather than resorting to violence. The public is advised to report any suspected cases of domestic abuse to the nearest police station or contact emergency lines for immediate intervention.
“The Command is actively pursuing the suspect, and we assure the public that justice will be served.
