CHAIRMAN of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mr Ola Olukoyede, has expressed optimism that Nigerians are capable of breaking the fang of corrupt practices by mustering stronger resolve and determination against it.
He stated this in Abuja today (Sunday 30 March 2025) in his goodwill message to Muslim Ummah commemorating Eid-el-Fitr across the country.
According to him, tackling economic and financial crimes and other acts of corruption is achievable through the courageous readiness and corporate commitments of Nigerians.
“Nigerians are stronger than corruption. No corrupt act can break our common resolve and determination. We have all it takes to confront and conquer economic and financial crimes”, he said.
He congratulated the Muslim faithful on the completion of Ramadan and charged them to allow lessons of self-denial, discipline, sacrifice, love and purity of the season imbued in them greater readiness and commitment to shun corrupt practices.
“At Eid-el-Fitr, Allah’s benevolence and sacrifice are greatly magnified. AMay the lessons of love, peace, joy and celebration of the festival abide in us and may they imbue in us a greater desire to shun corrupt practices”, he said.
He also assured Nigerians that the anti-corruption war is on course, maintaining that the EFCC is gaining more strength and speed in bringing economic and financial crimes to a halt.

Meanwhile, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, has urged the Muslim faithful to allow the love and spirit of Ramadan to guide their ways.
Obi, in a message, said, “I sincerely join the Muslim faithful in Nigeria to celebrate the Eid-el-Fitr 2025, which marks the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan. It is our earnest prayer that Almighty Allah will accept our prayers, fasting, and supplications now and always.
“It was indeed very fulfilling for me to break the Ramadan fasts with different Muslim communities across the nation. Sharing our blessings and joys with one another is not just an act of Ramadan but should form part of our everyday lives.
“We pray that the blessings and lessons of Ramadan will forever remain and abide with us – that love will live in our hearts, that peace and unity will flourish in our nation, that security of lives and property will again be celebrated within our borders, and that our nation will experience growth and development.
‘Once again, I congratulate our Muslim brothers and sisters for completing the Ramadan. May the blessings of Almighty Allah remain with you and your families now and always. Eid Mubarak!
