THE Arewa Progressive Forum for Good Governance (APFGG), has come down hard on the son of former Kaduna State governor, Bashir El- Rufa’i and his co-travellers insisting they cannot stop Northerners from re-electing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.
Bashir had in a post on his social media handle, allegedly predicted that the President and the governor would be voted out of office in 2027 for ”non-performance”.
However, in a statement signed by Malam Ibrahim Musa Bichi, Chairman of APFGG, the group condemned Bashir El-Rufai’s position and challenged his father to vie for the presidency in 2027 in order to suffer defeat at the hands of President Tinubu.
The group alleged that Mallam Bashir was merely speaking the mind of his father, who was accused of misappropriating N423 billion in state funds. “His anger, no doubt, stemmed from the fact that his father was denied a ministerial position.
“Those who understand politics know that President Tinubu has built a political structure over the years that is helping him to move Nigeria forward in the right direction. And we don’t see reasons to fight an administration that is determined to make the country a better place.
“We want the likes of Bashir to know that the real voters within the North will support President Tinubu because they are fully aware of the President’s efforts via his Renewed Hope Agenda to tackle the challenges of insecurity and economic hardship caused by previous administrations”.
The group dared Mallam Nasiru El-Rufai to contest the presidential election in 2027.
“We are challenging him, El-Rufai- Rufai to pick a presidential ticket and contest against Tinubu and see who the North will vote,” the group stated.
