THE Force Intelligence Department (FID) of the Nigerian police has reportedly arrested and detained Abraham Daniel, a former pastor with Dunamis International Gospel Centre, and Alexander Eneche, following their appearance at the department in response to a police invitation.
The duo are accused of cyberbullying and criminal defamation against Pastor Paul Enenche, the founder and Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Abuja.
This development comes after Pastor Daniel publicly accused Pastor Enenche of reneging on a gentleman’s agreement between them.
Barrister Ernest Okpaga, the legal representative of the detained individuals his clients were detained after honouring the police invitation.
He explained that they arrived at the FID office at 1 pm, only to have their statements taken around 8 pm, after hours of waiting and subsequently detained without explanation.
“No clear reason has been given for their detention, even though they cooperated fully with the police”, kOkpaga stated.
Family members of Pastor Daniel and Alexander Eneche had previously expressed concerns about their whereabouts after they responded to a police invitation.
In the invitation letters sent to Daniel and Alexandekmr Enenche, dated 3 January 2025, the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force Intelligence Department (FID), Abuja, invited them to report to the department for questioning.
The letters are referenced CR:3000/FID/FHQ/ABJ/T.G/VOL.57/542 and CR:3000/FID/FHQ/ABJ/T.G/VOL.57/543.
The letters requested that they appear before the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force Intelligence Department (FID) at SPO’s Room 212, 2nd Floor, Force Intelligence Department (FID) Complex, Shehu Shagari Way, opposite Force Headquarters, Area 11, Garki, Abuja, on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 1:00 pm.
The letter read, “In furtherance of investigations into the case of cyber-bullying, criminal defamation, injurious falsehood, making false publication/giving false information and inciting public nuisance in which the need for some clarifications from you has become imperative.
“You are requested to report for an interview with the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force Intelligence Department (FID) through the undersigned, at SPO’s Room 212, 2nd Floor, Force Intelligence Department (FID) Complex, Shehu Shagari Way, Opposite Force Headquarters Area 11, Garki, Abuja on Tuesday, 7th January, 2025 at 1pm. On arrival, you may wish to call GSM number 08039659139.
“This request is made pursuant to the investigative powers conferred on the Police by the combined effect of Sections 214 and the Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999(as amended) and Section 4 of the Police Act and Regulations, 2020.
“Be informed that you are at liberty to come along with your attorney, please, DCP Alhassan Kawu Yahaya”, the statement added.
