A former Senate Majority Leader, Jonathan Zwingina, has died aged 70.
A family source said that the former lawmaker died in Abuja on Wednesday after falling ill about four days earlier.
“He took ill about four days ago at his residence in Abuja and died days later,” the source said.
Zwingina represented Adamawa South Senatorial District in the National Assembly between 1999 to 2027. He was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Zwingina’s palatial residence in Abuja was demolished in February 2007, allegedly on the orders of Nasir el-Rufai, the then Federal Capital Territory Minister.
