BAYERN MUNICH have advised Senegalese star Sadio Mane to explore transfer options, as they are not relying on him for the upcoming season.
Mane had decided to continue at Bayern before he and his management were given the news. Mane joined Bayern in the summer of 2022, signing a three-year contract.
Looking to trim the attacking department of the squad to make space for the signing of a marquee striker. Sadio Mane seems to be the attacker that could leave Bavaria to make way for a striker. The Senegalese forward has got the necessary signal from the club to look for a transfer.
According to Kicker, Bayern chiefs have told Mane that he will not figure in their plans for next season. The 31-year-old forward is one of the big earners in the squad, so Die Roten is ready to part ways this summer to trim the wage bill.
Saudi Arabian clubs have been heavily linked with a move for Mane. Al-Ahli is reportedly ready to offer a three-year deal to Mane. The former Liverpool forward’s manager has denied claims about having talks with Saudi Arabian clubs regarding a transfer.
Mane arrived at Bayern with a lot of expectations last summer. The Senegalese forward was considered a part of the contingency plan for the departing Robert Lewandowski. However, the first season didn’t go as per plan for Mane and Bayern.
The Senegalese forward couldn’t become the decisive forward for the club that can help them to challenge across all fronts.
The 31-year-old forward ended the season with 12 goals and six assists across all competitions. He started the campaign on a good note, but his form dipped as the team struggled to get consistency in results and performances. Mane’s season took a turn for the worse when he suffered a serious injury at the start of November. He was on the sidelines for the next three months due to this injury.
Mane struggled for consistency after returning from injury in February. He was in and out of the team, which didn’t help his cause. Moreover, he was also involved in a dressing room bust-up with Leroy Sane after the defeat against Manchester City in the Champions League. It was a season to forget for Mane despite winning the Bundesliga title with Die Roten.
Mane was not the sole reason for Die Roten’s disappointing season, but he couldn’t bring the quality on the pitch that he showed at Liverpool. It will be a harsh decision to part ways with Mane just after one season, but it is understandable from Die Roten’s behalf as they look to balance the wage structure. Sadio Mane remains eager to stay in Bavaria. The next few weeks will be decisive regarding his future at the club once he holds talks with Thomas Tuchel and the club chiefs.
