AS part of preparations for the commencement of the 2024-25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, all Akwa United registered players have undergone medical examination and they have all been confirmed to be in good health and fit to play in the upcoming league season
The club’s head of medical department, Doctor Obot Jackson, revealed that an Electrocardiogram (ECG) test was carried out on all the players to detect the electrical signals produced by the heart each time it beats.
Doctor Jackson noted that the club needed to know the heart condition of the players before fielding them for matches.
“The test was done in line with NPFL’s guidelines and we are excited to announce that all the players are in sound health and are fit to compete at any level of football in Nigeria.
“The test is important to individual players and the club, so we had to confirm that they are all in good condition to play.
” If during the examination we observed any issue about a particular player, it’s our place to offer professional advice but we are delighted that they all came out clean”.
The 2021 league champions will engage Lobi Stars in their opening match of the new season away from home on 7 September 2024.
