SUSPENDED governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara and his family have relocated to the Bayelsa State Government House, Yenagoa, and are currently being accommodated by the state governor.
Sir Fubara, his deputy, Professor Ngozi Odu and the entire Rivers State House of Assembly were on Tuesday suspended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for six months citing an intractable crisis among political gladiators in the state.
The President held the governor responsible when, according to him, he refused to implement the terms of the agreement he brokered in December 2023 and later the Supreme Court judgment. However, not a few Nigerians have pointed fingers at the President and his appointee, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike as being the enabler and mastermind of the crisis.
They also point to the loopside accusations heaped at the governor during his Tuesday broadcast without a iota of blame for the 27 members of the state House of Assembly who in 2023 defected from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
