Eighteen-Eleven Media reports that there has been heightened tension following the Supreme Court verdict penultimate Friday which recognised the Martin Amaewhule-led Assembly members. Among others, the Assembly have twice issued an ultimatum to the governor to present the 2025 Budget estimates to it for consideration. The Assembly members have asked the governor to present names of commissioner-nominees to them for screening, as according to them those presently parading themselves as commissioners and doing so illegally having not been screened by them.
The action of the Assemblymen had equally elicited reactions from erstwhile militant groups who have threatened to shut down oil exploration in the Niger Delta region if any attempt is made to remove the governor by the Assemblymen.
It is not however clear at of press time if the Assemblymen will honour the invitation.
