THE management of the Federal University of Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Ekiti State has barred students from driving vehicles on campus

In a memo addressed to all the students, the school management says its decision was borne out of cases of avoidable accidents leading to loss of lives within the school premises.

The memo, signed by the Registrar, Mufutau A. Ibrahim, says the decision was taken during the university management meeting held on Monday, 19th February 2024,

According to him, the meeting considered the report on reckless driving of cars by students on the campuses and noted that such reckless driving had caused avoidable accidents leading to loss of lives.

“Consequently, management decided to ban the driving of vehicles by students on campuses.

“Accordingly. driving of vehicles by students on the campuses is hereby banned with immediate effect.

“By this decision, the Chief Security Officer should not allow the students to bring their vehicles into the campuses.”

Meanwhile, the university has designated student car parking spaces outside the Ceremonial Gate, old Main Gate and lkole Campus Main Gate. However, Mr Ibrahim insists that the “university shall not be responsible for the security of cars parked at the designated locations.

This is for your information and immediate implementation”.
