THE remains of the deceased elder brother of the governor of Oyo State, Engr. Olufunmilayo Sunday Makinde will be committed to Mother Earth today.
The family, in a statement, indicated that the funeral events began yesterday with a Service of Songs, while the interment will take place today (Friday).
A reception will come up after the interment, while a thanksgiving service will be held at the St Peter’s Cathedral, Aremo, Ibadan, on Sunday.
“With total submission to the will of God, the Makinde Family of Aigbofa Compound, Oja’ba, Ibadan, announces the passing of our father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and cousin, Engr Olufunmilayo Sunday Makinde, aged 65 years, who joined the Saints Triumphant on Friday, 24 January 2025,” the family said in a statement.
“Funeral arrangements are as follows: On Thursday, 6th February 2025, there will be a Service of Songs at the Remembrance Arcade, Ibadan by 5 p.m.
“On Friday, 7th February 2025, a Funeral Service will be held at the Bishop Akinyele Memorial Anglican Church, Iwo Road, Ibadan by 10 a.m. (strictly by invitation), while the interment, to be attended by family members only, will take place at the Eternal Home, Km 25, Ibadan-Oyo Road.
“Reception is to follow at the Ibadan Recreation Club, Adamasingba, Ibadan.
“On Sunday, 9th February 2025, a Funeral Thanksgiving Service will be held at the Cathedral of St Peters, Aremo, Ibadan.”
