CHIEF Olabode George, former Deputy National Chairman (South) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has discountenanced reports in some sections of the media that he was ready to work with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, considered his arch-political enemy.
Speaking during an interview with Arise News during the Morning Show programme when Dr Reuben Abati said that no fewer than seven newspapers reported him saying that he was ready to work with Tinubu if invited and asked him if indeed he made such a statement.
Responding, Chief George retorted rhetorically “General Yakubu Gowon was 31 when he became the Head of State and Chief Olusegun Obasanjo was 39 when he became Nigeria’s Head of State, I am now 80 and he will be looking for work to do what?
Putting it succinctly, Chief George said he never said anything of the sort and will never say such. He argue that he and Tinubu did not have the same political views and therefore they are not aligned politically.
He further said that what he said when he was asked what he would do if Tinubu calls him was that he will pray for him and that will be after the election case at the court. He said at 80 years what type of work will he be looking for when there are young minds, young people who could do better.
