IN its drive to checkmate electoral fraud and associated financial crimes, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has deployed its officers to Kogi, Bayelsa and Imo states where governorship elections are held tomorrow (Saturday, 11 November 2023).
The monitoring operations, according to a statement from the Commission, are to tackle any form of voter inducement through vote buying, vote selling and other manipulation of the electoral processes at variance with the Electoral Act.
The residents of three states are billed to elect governors to pilot the affairs of the state for the next three years. While Chief Hope Uzodinma of Imo State and his counterpart in Bayelsa State, Douye Diri, are seeking reelection, a new occupant will emerge in the çase of Kogi where the incumbent, Yahaya Bello is not qualified to seek reelection after completing two terms of four years.
