TWO herdsmen, Nuru Tukur and Yusufa Haruna have pleaded guilty to the charge of rape of a pregnant woman they abducted from her home in the Yaba area of Abaji Area Council of Abuja.
The two men were arraigned before Upper Area Court in Gwagwalada, FCT, on Tuesday.
The prosecution counsel, Dabo Yakubu told the court that Mr. Abubakar Wakili of Yaba in Abaji Area Council reported the matter at the Gwagwalada Area Command office on 26th February.
Yakubu said that on 25th February, the convicts abducted the victim from her house in the Abaji Area Council.
He said that the convicts took the victim to a bush where both of them raped her not minding that she was eight months pregnant.
The police charged Nuru Tukur, 21, and Yusufa Haruna, 29, with criminal conspiracy, force, assault and adultery by man, which they pleaded guilty to.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 96, 262, 264, and 387 of the Penal Code.
The two herders pleaded guilty to the charges.
The magistrate, Malam Abdullahi Abdulkarim ordered that they should be remanded in a correction centre pending sentencing.
The magistrate deferred sentencing in order for him to see the victim and know what condition she is in.
Abdulkarim adjourned the case til 22nd March for sentencing.
