THE founding and Senior Pastor of Word of Life Bible Church, Warri, Delta State, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, has recounted how God healed him of an aggressive form of cancer.
The former President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), while speaking with his congregation during a recent programme, a video of which has been shared online, recounted his journey through emotional, physical and spiritual trials, emphasizing his faith as crucial to his recovery.
Reflecting on his experience, Oritsejafor revealed that while he travelled to the United States for treatment, another acquaintance battling the same cancer went to the United Kingdom.
Sadly, while Oritsejafor returned to Nigeria healed, his acquaintance was brought back in a casket.
Acknowledging the sorrow of his friend’s passing, Papa Ayo Oritsejafor urged his congregation not to celebrate his survival, stating, “Don’t clap because I am not better than him.
“How do you face cancer and still stand like this? But I have not told you when I was going to America full of cancer, you did not know, I did not tell you. I look normal because this is my way of life.
“Hear me, I was on my two legs. I walked onto the plane, but he wasn’t there. Please, don’t clap because I am not better than Him, but God remembered my heart. I have always had a heart for God.
“I told God, ‘If you save me from this, I would double my service, I would serve you twice more’. God saved me and brought me home.”
Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor became the national president of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) on 7 February 2005, a position he held for five years.
In July 2010, Pastor Oritsejafor was elected President of the CAN, the apex body of all Christians in the country. In doing so he became the first Pentecostal leader to hold the position. Oritsejafor was the first to launch a Miracle crusade from Africa to a world audience via satellite in 1987 with evangelist Joe Martins.
