THE Nigerian woman who was allegedly brutalised by her husband over her choice of outfit for school runs has spoken up in his defence barely a day after the physical abuse.
Kagbaranee Imeah had earlier posted on Facebook photos and videos of herself with injuries on her face, alleging that her husband, Livinus, violently assaulted her for wearing a singlet to drop off their children at school.
However, in a video uploaded on social media which shows the woman obviously reading from a script and with one eye swollen shut, she claimed she played a role in what happened to her.
She urged the public to stay away from their family matters, stating that she harbours no regrets about marrying him.
In the video, which appeared to be a personal address to the public, the woman pleaded for no harm to come to her husband, expressing her commitment to standing by him despite the situation.
Part of her statement reads:
“I’ve looked inward and found that the pain of disrespecting and working against my husband’s order was what led to what he did to me. He has never done anything like this since we got married. After the incident, he took me to the Central Government Hospital in Warri for proper medical checkup and treatment. My sight is perfectly in order,”
“I don’t regret marrying my husband. He never wanted to harm me, and I also don’t want any harm to come to him because of this issue.”
She further instructed individuals, bloggers, and organisations to refrain from intervening in their private matters.
“I order that no one, organisations, bloggers, or individuals should harm or stress my lovely husband on this issue. I will always stand by him forever and see God’s purpose for our family. There is no perfection anywhere. We all make mistakes,” she added.
The woman also assured the public that she was recovering, emphasizing her peace with her husband.
“Please, stop. I am at peace with my husband. As you can see, my eyes are getting better. I don’t need any harm to my husband because of this issue.”
