…Advises Gov Caleb Mutfwang Not To Dissipate Energy Appealing Court Of Appeal Verdict

Fijabi Olanrewaju

A former governor of Plateau State who is also a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),

Rtd Air Commodore Jonah David Jang has admitted responsibility for the series of unfavourable court judgments against his party noting that he failed to lead the party on the right path.

Mr Jang also advised the current governor of the state, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang, who is also a member of the PDP, not to waste his time and resources appealing the Court of Appeal verdict which recently sacked him from office.

According to the former governor, Barrister Mutfwang should jettison the idea of seeking redress at the Supreme Court because it would amount to a gross waste of time and resources considering how the PDP had consistently lost its cases and is still losing at the Court of Appeal.

In a sober mood, the former governor admitted that the PDP had no valid structure to nominate or even sponsor a candidate but under his directive, the partly flouted several court orders and, through subterfuge and manipulation, they were able to sell their candidates to the public.

In his words, Mr Jang said: “Seeing how old I am and how close I am to the grave, I cannot continue to sustain the deception that PDP is right on this matter.

“I urge Caleb Mutfwang and all members of the party who have been elected in Plateau State to ‘give to Ceasar what belongs to Ceasar’.

“Let’s stop all these meaningless protests and get our acts right by conducting a fresh and legitimate congress.”

The former governor admitted leading the party astray and cannot further lead it astray. He also noted that even if, by some wild imagination, Barrister Mutwang wins at the Supreme Court, it will have little or no consequence on the party.

As such, seeking further redress is a pointless effort, an exercise in futility. He enjoined Mr Mutfwang to immediately resign and hand over the state to Dr Nentawe Yilwatda.

In the same vein, Mr Jang cautioned PDP youths against fomenting needless trouble and give peace a chance.

There is an indication that the legal battles of Governor Caleb Mutwang are being financed from the coffers of Plateau State and this has continually halted attempts at developing the state.

Moreover, members of the PDP who had expected to benefit from the governor are lamenting about the paucity of resources among members who had worked for the party. Some of them supported the counsel of Jang to Mutfwang and further suggested that the PDP should have a rethink and toe the right path instead of heaping blame on the APC.

In another remark, ex-governor Jang stated that the PDP will definitely rise again but not now. He expressed the view that the PDP will take over power from APC in 2027 or sometime in the future.

He told the teeming crowd of sorrowful members of the party who paid him a condolence visit at his Du Residence not to give up on the party but rather they should remain loyal members.

He reiterated that Mr Caleb Mutfwang should not even think about going to the Supreme Court because it would only increase their woes.
