POLICE operatives in Adamawa State have arrested a 33-year-old man, Musa Adamu, for allegedly being in possession of illegal firearms.
The suspect, who was arrested with four AK-47 rifles, however, claimed that a repented armed robbery colleague gave them to him.
Adamu, a resident of Mayo Belwa Local Government Area of the state said he had been involved in kidnapping in the past but had repented from it.
He insisted that the four guns he was caught with were handed to him to keep.
According to him, when one of his former gang members heard that he had repented from kidnapping, he called and told him that he wanted to meet and surrender his guns.
He added that the man in question and one other came and surrendered four AK-47 rifles without ammunition to him. He said he was arrested by the police in Gombi Local Government Area the very day he was given the weapons.
