Ace Nigerian singer Davido has vowed to give more than ₦250 million to orphanages across the nation this year.
He took to Twitter to make the pledge and wrote:
“We do it again this year on my birthday! We go bigger!! #WRBLO #BIG30,”
Recall that on 17 November 2021, a few days before his 29th birthday, the singer started a donation exercise conceived as a joke with his friends.
His fans also jumped on the occasion to express their love for him by sending in their donations.
The DMW boss asked friends to donate ₦1 million each to a Wema Bank account.
He raked in ₦200 million within 48 hours of activating the fundraising.
On the eve of his birthday on 20 November, Davido decided to donate all the money plus an extra 50 Million as a birthday gift to orphanages across Nigeria.
He went on to set up a five-man committee to oversee the proper disbursement of the funds.
Prayers and applause rang out across the country for music superstar David Adeleke following his donation of ₦250 million to orphans.
The gesture fetched him the Humanitarian Award of the year at the 15th Headies Awards.
