KEBBI State governor, Dr Nasir Idris, Kauran Gawandu has donated a brand new Hilux van to the Kebbi State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS)

This is just as the governor also pledged continued support to the personnel of the service to enable them to discharge their constitutional duties across the state.

Dr Idris announced the largesse on Thursday when the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kemi Nandap, visited him at Government House, Birnin Kebbi.

The governor also promised to assist the NIS in the planned establishment of its National Training Institute in the state.

Kauran Gwandu also instantly approved her request for the inclusion of NIS in the State Security Committee.

“I have approved this humble request right here, now. I have also directed the SSG to always invite them whenever the committee meet,” he said.

Dr Idris said that he doesn’t subscribe to the school of thought that federal workers are not part of the state governments, saying, “They are working for the people of Kebbi State.”

According to the governor, his administration belongs to everybody and he would stop at nothing to make all categories of workers in the state more secure and comfortable.

He congratulated the CG on her appointment, noting, “President Bola Tinubu is meticulous in appointing CEOs and I am confident that you will live above board and succeed.”

Speaking earlier, Kemi Nandap told the governor that she was in the state for an on-the-spot assessment of the needs of the officers of the service.

She described Kebbi State as very strategic as it harbours three international borders including a marine border.

The CG said that the visit was part of the Federal Government’s efforts to provide timely solutions to the myriad of challenges at the borders including irregular migration, trans-border crimes and the proliferation of small arms and light weapons.

She commended the governor for his magnanimity to NIS including his donation to the families of two deceased officers.

The CG also lauded Dr Idris for instantly renovating the burnt passport office in the State Command that was recently gutted by fire.

Highlights of the occasion was the presentation of a plaque to Governor Nasir Idris by the NIS chief in recognition of his outstanding leadership.
