INDEPENDENT National Electoral Commission (INEC) National Commissioner in charge of Information and Voters Education, Mr. Festus Okoye has said that the Commission would investigate and deal with officers found culpable in the registration of underage voters.
Okoye disclosed this while answering questions on default in logistics by the Commission in the ongoing election.
He also promised to get information from the Situation Room with regard to the areas where the Chairman of INEC promised to conduct a fresh election today (Sunday) in Lagos but up till 3 pm election hasn’t taken place in those areas.
According to him, “On the issue of underage voters, in some places where some of our officers register some underage voters, we will investigate and make sure any officers found culpable will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
“In terms of issues where the election did not hold, the only one the Chairman dealt with was Yenagoa, in terms of proceedings the issue has been worked on.”
In the Lagos area where the election did not hold yesterday, he said, ” I will go back to the Situation Room. We will look at it and get back”.
