It’s Disgraceful For Messi To Win 2023 Ballon d’Or – Ex-Chelsea Defender

FORMER Chelsea defender, Jason Cundy, has insisted that Argentina captain Lionel Messi winning the 2023 Ballon d’Or would be a disgrace.

Cundy believes that Manchester City striker Erling Haaland should be the clear winner for this year’s Ballon d’Or.

The winner of the 2023 Ballon d’Or will be announced later this month.

Messi, Haaland and Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe are clear favourites for the prestigious individual award.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Cundy said, “I think if Haaland doesn’t win it [Ballon d’Or], it’s a disgrace.

“I think it’s a disgrace, Messi will win it because he won the World Cup.”

Both Messi and Haaland had a superb 2022/23 season.

The Inter Miami forward won the FIFA World Cup in Qatar and also the French Ligue 1 title with PSG before he left the club in the summer, while Haaland won the treble – Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League, with Manchester City.
