EVERTON Football Club says Super Eagles forward, Alex Iwobi will be out of action for about three weeks with an ankle ligament injury.

The Toffees came out with this statement on Sunday.

Iwobi suffered the injury in Friday’s Emirates FA Cup third-round fixture at Manchester United which Everton lost 3-1.

The former Arsenal man twisted his ankle following a challenge by United’s Tyrell Malacia and had to be stretchered off.

He is expected to be back in action for the trouble Merseyside on the second of February.

The injury is a further blow to Everton, who dropped into the Premier League relegation zone after a heavy home defeat by Brighton last week.

Defender Conor Coady conceded they are in “a bad place” but they have shown they are fighting for under-pressure manager Frank Lampard.
