THE First Lady of Kebbi State, Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir Idris, has emphasized the need for married couples to respect the institution of marriage for peaceful family bonds.
Hajiya Zainab Nasare was speaking in Birnin Kebbi yesterday at a lecture hosted by a non-governmental organisation, “Gyara Gidanka”.
She made it clear that tolerance between husband and wife was most desirable to achieve marriage longevity, respect for one another and peaceful interaction as lovers.
“I am urging spouses of whatever creed and class status, to sincerely protect the rights and privileges incumbent on married couples.
“Women should persevere and wholeheartedly accept and be thankful for the economic situation they may encounter in their matrimonial homes.
“The bounty some women enjoy in their parents’ abodes may surpass what obtains from their husbands; please persevere, be accommodating and grateful.
“This has been my constant sermon to my daughters whenever they were about to get married, ALHAMDU LILLAHI, I have never had issues with them on the economic perspective in their matrimonial homes“, Khadijat Saidu, Press Secretary to the wife of the governor, in a statement, quotes Hajiya Nasare as saying.
The First Lady announced that her Foundation, the NASARA Foundation, would collaborate with the Gyara Gidanka Association to strengthen its marriage counselling between married couples.
“We shall endeavour to broker peace in circumstances of misunderstanding between husband and wife without resorting to court cases, marriage is a sacred institution“, she further stated.
Hajiya Nasare further spoke of the importance of women’s involvement in trade and commerce through skill acquisition to enable them to contribute to family care.The Kebbi State First Lady donated three million naira to the organisation to enhance its operational capacity and impact.
The Chairperson of the group, Hajiya Fatima’s Sulaimán Bawa, highlighted activities embarked upon by Gyara Gidanka, with a focus on peaceful coexistence between married couples.
“We succeeded in brokering peace between about 30 married couples, and the relationship has stabilised without further disharmony; we want to spread our activities to cover the entire local government areas in the state”, she narrated.
She, therefore, thanked the First Lady for her motherly love and purposeful leadership which she says is worthy of emulation.Among prominent personalities on the entourage of the First Lady were the wife of the Speaker, Kebbi State House of Assembly, the wife of the Kebbi State Head of Civil Service, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary School Education, Dr. Halima Muhammad Bande, as well Permanent Secretaries, SAs SSAs and wives of local government Chairmen.
