KEBBI STATE governor, Comrade (Dr) Nasir Idris has commended the Federal Government for the supply of highly sophisticated operational vehicles to the state.
Inspecting the vehicles at the Kebbi State Police Command in Birnin Kebbi on Monday, the governor appreciated the decision of the Acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun for the deployment of the vehicles to the state.
Governor Idris said the gigantic effort was directed towards fighting crimes and criminalities by tracing criminals to their hideouts.
“We must commend the efforts of the Ag. IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, for graciously providing Kebbi State Police Command with these highly sophisticated operational assets.
“This is with a view to assisting the Command in curtailing banditry activities across the state, especially in the Southern part of the state where bandits in their large numbers used to infiltrate into the state, commit heinous crimes and escape back to their hideouts in neighbouring states,” he lamented.
The governor promised to continually assist the police and other security agencies in the state to enable them to discharge their duties optimally to rid the state of all forms of crimes and criminalities.
Earlier in a welcome address, the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Samuel Titus Musa, thanked the IGP for allocating the operational assets to the Command and reiterated his commitment to judiciously utilise them for the purpose they were meant.
The Commissioner equally applauded the assistance being rendered to Kebbi State Police Command and other security agencies by the governor and assured him that the police were now good to go.
“With these operational assets at the Command’s disposal, criminal elements are going to be eliminated.
“Your Excellency, we thank you for your support because it was your efforts that facilitated the approval and release of these operational vehicles to this Command by the IGP,” he confirmed.
The governor was accompanied by the Secretary to State Government (SSG), Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida, Head of Service (HoS), Sufiyanu Bena among other personalities.
