ALHAJI Hamza Galadima Zuru, 52, the Kebbi State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) is dead.
Alhaji Zuru reportedly passed away in the early hours of today at the Federal Medical Center, Birnin Kebbi following a brief illness.
Meanwhile, Kebbi State governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu said he received the news with deep shock.
The governor, in a condolence message to the family of the deceased and the entire journalists in the state and NUJ, described the death of the late journalist as a colossal loss to the state.

According to the governor, the death of the NUJ Chairman has created a wide vacuum in journalism that would be difficult to fill.
Dr.Idris described the deceased as a core professional, consummate and diligent personality.
According to the governor, the late Chairman would be remembered for a myriad of legacies he has left as a journalist and as a leader.
He prayed Allah to forgive his shortcomings and admit him into Aljannar Firdaus.
Governor Nasir Idris also beseeched Allah to give the family of the deceased the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Aged 52, late veteran journalist, Hamza Galadima Zuru is survived by 3 wives and 10 children.
He has since been buried according to Islamic rites after a funeral prayer conducted at FMC Birnin Kebbi.
Among the important government personalities who attended the funeral prayer of the deceased include the Kebbi State Head of Service, Alhaji Sufyanu Garba Bena, Commissioner of Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed Birnin; some permanent secretaries; Special Advisers; General Manager of Kebbi State Television Service, Alhaji Aminu Sani Kamba; journalists and family members.
