Kwara Gives Friday Deadline For Political Appointees To Resign

Political appointees in Kwara State wishing to seek elective offices in the 2023 general elections have been asked to resign.

They are to submit their resignation latest by Friday, 15th April 2022.

“In line with provisions of Section 84 (12) of the new Electoral Act, all Kwara State Government appointees seeking nominations for elective offices in the forthcoming primaries are hereby directed to resign,” a directive issued by Secretary to the State Government, Prof MacManus Saba Jibril, read.

The SSG stated in Ilorin, the state capital, on Tuesday.12th April 2022.

All resignation letters, according to the statement, should be submitted to the Office of the Secretary to the Kwara State Government no later than 15th April 2022.

The provisions of Section 84(12) of the new Electoral Act has become a contentious matter with President Muhammadu Buhari calling for its amendment again by the National Assembly.
