THE Labour Party (LP) has dissolved the executive council of the Rivers State chapter of the party over allegations of anti-party activities and corruption in the management of the party’s funds.
Kenneth Okonkwo, spokesperson of the LP campaign, in a statement on Tuesday, said the Rivers executive council has been dissolved with immediate effect on the order of Julius Abure, LP National Chairman.
Eighteen-Eleven Media recalls that the state chapter of the party, only a few hours ago, endorsed the candidate of the rival Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Sim Fubara, for governor.
The state Chairman of the Labour Party, Deinye Pepple, stated this at a news briefing in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, saying Fubara’s senatorial district had yet to produce a governor since the creation of the state.
He stated, “Voting a riverine candidate in the person of Simimialayi Fubara from the South East Senatorial District of the state during the upcoming governorship poll ensures that the Labour Party and her members are defenders and ambassadors of the values that have set her Obidient movement apart from all other parties.”
