THE Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency (LASPARK) will commemorate this year’s annual tree planting day tomorrow, Friday 14, 2023 at two designated parks; the Johnson Jakande Tinubu Park ( JJT) Ikeja and Ikorodu.
Bakare Adekunbi, the Public Affairs Officer of the agency, in a statement, urged residents to pick up seedlings at the two designated locations to plant
The annual tree planting day on 14 July is set aside to draw public attention to tree planting and sensitise the populace on the need to plant, nurture and preserve trees.
The theme for this year’s Tree Planting Day, “Let’s Green Our City” further underscores the need for collective efforts to salvage our environment from further degradation.
“It should be stressed that the concept of tree planting embraced by the Lagos State Government over the years has been sustained by successive administrations in view of the numerous benefits inherent in tree planting both for our environment and for human survival as a whole.
“Our advocacy remains that individuals and organisations should make tree planting a regular activity as part of a normal lifestyle to mark milestone celebrations or to commemorate other significant events.
