A commercial bus conductor in Lagos, Azeez Balogun, 18, is standing trial for allegedly beating up a passenger and knocking off his two teeth over one hundred Naira change.
The passenger, Shina Olanrewaju, who boarded the bus at Ile-Epo Bus Stop, on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, alighted at Abule Egba and asked for his change which led to the fight.
Balogun is being tried at the Ogba Magistrate Court for assault.
The prosecutor, Raji Akeem, told the court that the offence contravened Section 173 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State.
However, the accused pleaded not guilty and the Presiding Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Bola Osunsanmi, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment.
The court adjourned the matter till 8th August 2023, for mention while the defendant was remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Centre, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
