THE All Progressives Congress (APC), in Lagos State has announced that the upcoming local government election, scheduled for 2025, will take place in all the local government areas and local council development areas (LCDAs).
The state Chairman of APC, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, said that the establishment of LCDAs nearly thirty years ago has served as a beacon of hope and development at the grassroots level.
He pointed out that the LCDAs are not only the closest to the communities but have also facilitated significant developments throughout the state.
He expressed his interest in the ongoing discussions regarding the relevance of LCDAs and the importance of holding elections for their political offices, reiterating that Lagos State would continue to recognise the contributions of LCDAs in driving the state forward.
The party boss acknowledged various infrastructural projects undertaken by the LCDAs, including road construction, drainage systems, market facilities, educational institutions, housing projects, primary healthcare, and numerous social service initiatives, stating that Lagos cannot overlook the positive impact these efforts have on society.
The APC leader also noted the collaborative efforts between the LCDAs and the state government in areas such as waste management, drainage clearing, and security, highlighting their ongoing importance.
He urged party members and all residents of Lagos to continue living peacefully together as they work toward maintaining the state’s leading position in the federation.
