FOLLOWING the weekend’s action across the nation that saw many interesting results and events occur around many venues, the league organisers, the Interim Management Committee (IMC) have announced new rounds of sanctions on teams that were found to have breached the Nigeria Premier Football league’s codes of conduct.
Amongst the affected teams in this round of sanctions include: Sunshine Stars, Remo Stars SC, Gombe United FC and Kano Pillars FC.
Gombe United FC were fined a total of Three Million, Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N3,500,000.00) for various match-related misconducts in their weekend draw against Rivers United FC. They were also docked three (3) points and three (3) goals for repeated offences and fans assaulting match officials and will play their next home games till the mid-season break behind closed doors.
Their manager Mohammed Baba Ganaru has also been handed a three (3) match suspension for assaulting match officials.
Sunshine Stars were handed a warning following unsportsmanlike conduct by their players at the weekend in the Southwestern derby, while Remo Stars SC were fined One Million Naira (N1,000,000) for failure to provide adequate security in their Southwestern derby game at the weekend.
Lastly, Kano Pillars FC were fined a whopping sum of Ten Million Naira (N10,000,000.00) following disruptive behaviour from their fans following their 2-1 win at the weekend.
Kano Pillars will pay a One Million Naira (N1,000,000.00) fine for repeated offences of throwing objects onto the pitch as well as another
One Million Naira (N1,000,000.00) for misconduct capable of bringing the game to disrepute.
A Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand (N250,000.00) fine, being compensation, will be paid to assistant referee Sodiq Adejumo for injuries sustained.
Kano Pillars will play their next home match(es) at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano before the mid-season break without fans.
All sanctioned teams have 48 hours from the day of notice to appeal their various sanctions.
