MANCHESTER United is on the verge of naming Ruben Amorim as their new head coach after parting ways with Erik Ten Hag.
The club has reportedly agreed to trigger Amorim’s €10 million release clause, and the Portuguese manager is said to be fully on board with United’s vision.
Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed the imminent deal, posting on X.com (formerly Twitter) “Manchester United are set to pay €10m exit clause for Rúben Amorim to become new manager, here we go!” Sporting Lisbon also acknowledged receiving formal communication from United and is reportedly prepared to name a successor.
Ten Hag’s exit follows a difficult season that saw United slip to 14th in the Premier League after a 2-1 loss to West Ham.
Despite signing a two-year contract extension in July, his record of only four wins in 14 matches left the club’s leadership looking for a change.
At just 39, Amorim has gained a reputation for his tactical acumen and success in Portugal, marking him as a prime candidate for the Red Devils.
In the interim, former United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy, who was Ten Hag’s assistant, will step into the role. Sources close to Van Nistelrooy indicate that he is not pursuing the position permanently, out of respect for Ten Hag.
As Amorim’s arrival nears, fans are eager to see if this new leadership will bring the turnaround Manchester United desperately needs this season.
