Manchester United Agrees Fee To Sell Fred To Fenerbahce

MANCHESTER UNITED have accepted a €15 million (£12.93m) fee from Fenerbahce for midfielder Fred.

United will receive €10m up front with €5m in add-ons for the 30-year-old Brazilian, whose final appearance for the club was in the FA Cup final in June.

Fred will fly out to Istanbul on Saturday (today) for his medical and the deal is subject to international clearance.

United signed Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk for £52m in 2018 and the Brazil international played 213 times for the club, scoring 14 goals.

Fred started in the League Cup final win over Newcastle United and the FA Cup final defeat to Manchester City last season.

United triggered the one-year extension in Fred’s contract but always planned to sell him as they were intent on recruiting a younger midfielder. Mason Mount joined United from Chelsea last month in a £60m deal.

Fred and United are parting on good terms, with the club pleased to have banked a reasonable fee for a 30-something with less than a year left on his deal.

Figures at United say Fred will depart “with appreciation and respect for his big contribution to the team over the last five years”.

Fred’s final appearance for United was as a substitute in the friendly win over Lyon in Edinburgh last month when he captained the side in the second half.
