SENATOR Salisu Matori has dismissed insinuations in some quarters that some ‘cabals’ in the North would have undue influence on the anticipated ministerial lists of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
This is as Matori, who doubles as the Vice Chairman of Senators Forum in the Northeast zone, expressed optimism that the selection of ministers would be based on merit and not favouritism.
Matori who spoke in an interview, said the Tinubu-led administration has already shown a positive approach towards governance with the appointments made so far.
The former senator, who represented Bauchi South in the Senate, said “I have no iota of doubt in my mind that selection of ministers would be based on merit. I believe President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not the kind of person who can be misled by some powerful people in the North. He knows what’s going on. It took him like 30 years to achieve this, so you should expect that over the years, he has built up a wealth of expertise in political and societal matters and has represented millions of people as a kingmaker and a former governor of Lagos State.”
