THE Executive Director of the Egyptian Red Crescent, Rami Al-Nazer, disclosed on Sunday that Egypt and Liverpool star forward, Mohamed Salah, has made a significant donation to provide aid to the people of Palestine in Gaza.
“Mohamed Salah has already made donations to provide aid to the people in Gaza. It is not something strange for Mohamed Salah to provide such aid,” he told the Al-Hekaya TV show.
Gaza has faced attacks from the Israeli army since 7 October with a total siege imposed on the strip in recent days, resulting in the deprivation of more than 1 million people of electricity, food, and fuel.
“We were approached through his business manager, and he informed us of his desire. This is not Salah’s first or only contribution to humanitarian causes. He has a history of philanthropy, and we are accustomed to it from such a prominent figure,” Al-Nazer concluded.
Salah has faced criticism on social media for not publicly supporting the Palestinian people during their current crisis, while several other players have shown public solidarity with the cause.
A close source from the player informed Egyptian website Filgoal that Salah is committed to taking tangible steps to support the Palestinian people during the ongoing events.
Several European-based Egyptian players, including Mahmoud Trezeguet, Ahmed Hassan Kouka, and Sam Morsy, have expressed their support for the Palestinians on social media.
