DETAINED boss of Marlian Records, Afeez Fashola (aka Naira Marley) has threatened to sue Nigerian record producer, Solomon Oyeniyi (popularly known as K-Solo) for allegedly making unfounded accusations against him during a recent appearance on Channels TV’s programme, Rubbin’ Minds.
K-Solo, during the programme, reportedly alleged that Naira Marley was involved in the tragic demise of his former signee, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba (professionally known as MohBad).
In the interview aired on 17 September, K-Solo said: “Naira Marley is involved [in MohBad’s death]. He cannot tell me he is not involved. He has a hand in his death.
“These claims, without any substantial evidence (developments have clearly shown Naira Marley is not directly or remotely connected to his death) have caused serious damage to Naira Marley’s reputation.” Naira Marley’s team said in a statement released by Naira Marley’s media team on 26 October.
The team said they will be initiating legal action against K-Solo for ‘defamation of Character’. The media team further stated that they will no longer fold their hands and watch people with a negative agenda drag Naira Marley, neither would they allow anyone to achieve their aim of declaring the singer guilty for an offence he did not commit at all costs.
The statement further added that henceforth, anyone who makes any allegation against Naira Marley must present concrete proof not only on the Internet but also in a court of law. Every falsehood and rumour will be met with severity and full weight of the law.
The statement reads in part:
“The legal team representing Naira Marley will be initiating legal action against K-Solo for defamation of character. It is essential to emphasize that making unfounded allegations and false statements can have far-reaching consequences. Accusations of this nature not only tarnish the image of the accused but also perpetuate baseless claims that have spread like wildfire because elements like K-Solo and others (especially two known actresses) have speared head of the campaign of calumny against the person of Naira for reasons best known to them.“
Naira Marley and a couple of his associates were taken into custody for interrogation and other investigation activities by the Lagos State Police Command. Naira Marley, in particular, was taken in on 3rd October 2023.
