MOZAMBIQUE Railways (CFM) has reached another significant milestone with the signing of two Operational Understanding Agreements with the National Railways of Zimbabwe (NRZ).
The signing took place on 14 March 2025, in Maputo and will allow CFM to operate on Zimbabwe’s railway lines, strengthening cooperation between the two countries and boosting efficiency in freight transport.
The agreements cover the 148 km Chicualacuala-Rutenga Southern Corridor and the 84 km Machipanda-Nyazura Central Corridor.
Greater dynamics and efficiency in the flow of freight between Mozambique and Zimbabwe are expected from this partnership, ensuring a more reliable and economical service for rail customers.
The signing of the agreement was carried out by the leaders of both companies. Chairman of the Board of Directors, Eng. Agostinho Langa Júnior and the Executive Director, Eng. Cândido Jone signed on behalf of CFM. On behalf of NRZ, the Board Chairman, Advocate Michael Madiro and the General Manager, Ms Ainah Dube-Kaguru signed.
