FOR alleged involvement in conspiracy and wilful destruction of property, the Chairman of NEM Insurance company, Chief Adewale Teluwohas has been arraigned before a Yaba Chief Magistrate Court, Lagos
He was arraigned on two counts charge by the Police from Force Criminal Investigation Department (Force CID) annexe Alagbon-Ikoyi, before Chief Magistrate O. Y. Adefope.
The prosecutor, Morufu Animashaun, told the court that the defendant committed the offences around Mile 12, area of Owode-Onirin, Lagos, on 25 November 2021.
He said the defendant and others (now at large) wilfully destroyed the perimeter fence of a property belonging to Isiaka Akande Abdullahi.
According to him, the defendant’s alleged offence contravened the provisions of sections 411 and 340 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015, and punishable under the same sections.
Following his plea of not guilty, Animashaun, prayed the court to remand the defendant till the determination of the charge.
But the defendant’s counsel, S. O. Ogunbiyi and M. Jackson pleaded with the court to grant him bail in the most liberal terms. The lawyers told the court that their client is not a flight risk and has credible sureties to stand for him.
Magistrate Adefope, thereafter, granted Chief Teluwohas bail in the sum of N100,000.00 with one responsible surety in like sum.
She ordered that the prosecutor verify the bail condition and adjourned the case to 21 June 2023 for mention.
