THE Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced that goalkeeper Maduka Okoye will not be invited to the national football team, the Super Eagles until the investigations into allegations of match-fixing (betting) are concluded.
Okoye is accused of intentionally receiving a yellow card in a match against Lazio.
The investigation’s outcome will determine Okoye’s fate, with a potential three-year ban looming.
In the meantime, Godswill Enyiama, son of former Super Eagles goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama, is being considered as a second-choice goalkeeper.
The young Enyiama has been impressive in his performances for Lille, showcasing his skills and potential.
Maduka Emilio Okoye, 25, plies his trade for Serie A club, Udinese. Although born in Germany, he opted to play for the Nigeria national team.
