THE possibility of Suoer Eagles coach Jose Peseiro continuing in his lucrative post now hangs in the balance as contract talks with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and Portuguese have reportedly broken down.
According to an NFF source, Jose Peseiro’s salary of $70,000 is becoming a herculean task for the body to contend with. The source said that the football association can no longer meet the demands hence the need for the Portuguese to take a pay cut.
It was further gathered that the stipulated pay cut presented by the NFF is way below the soccer tactician’s expectations, hence his representatives disagreeing with the federation.
The NFF has now opted out of the talks with the coach giving the excuse that it can no longer meet up with the coach’s demands.
Recall Jose Peseiro’s contract expired last month but has an option for an extension based on his performance.

The search for a new gaffer may have begun in earnest, this is even as Eighteen-Eleven Media scooped that the former coach of the team who is now the Technical Director of NFF, Austin Egueavoen may have been drafted to handle the team in an interim capacity, at least for the next AFCON qualifier fixture against Sao Tome and Principe next month.
Egueavoen had resigned his position as the national team coach after failing to qualify Nigeria for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar
If his appointment is confirmed, Egueavoen will take charge of compiling the list of players needed for the AFCON qualifier.
